HP Officejet 5740e druckt Unsinn

Hallo,
nach Erhalt des neuen Druckers HP Officejet 5740e wählte ich nach Drucker hinzufügen

. Leider druckt er jetzt unsinnige Zeichenkombinationen. Daß sich dieser Drucker unter Kubuntu 12.04 nicht vernünftig installieren läßt, kann ich mir nicht vorstellen. Weiß jemand mehr hierzu?

Du brauchst für diesen Drucker eine neuere hplip in der Version ab 3.14.10.

Die neuste HPLIP (3.16.5) bekommst Du hier unter "Download HPLIP":

Du brauchst für den Treiber das Paket python-notify2, aber das gibt es für dein Ubuntu 12.04 nur in den Backport Quellen.

Du musst also deine /etc/apt/sources.list folgenden Eintrag hinzufügen:

(ohne die 1 vorne)

... danach machst Du:

... und wenn das alles geklappt hat, installierst Du den Treiber nochmal neu!

Ist der Drucker auch eingeschaltet, wenn Du "hpsetup -i" ausführst? Er muss an sein, sonst kann er nicht erkannt werden.

Der Drucker ist dabei eingeschaltet. Weil kein neues USB-Kabel mitgeliefert wurde, habe ich das USB-Kabel des alten Gerätes (HP-Officejet 5500) verwendet. Kann dies die Fehlerursache sein?

Der Drucker wird in Zeile 9 erkannt. Da ist also alles in Ordnung.

Warum hpsetup ihn nicht erkennt, versteh ich gerade auch nicht.

Versuch den Drucker doch mal so einzurichten, wie Du es zuerst selber probiert hattest.
Heute ist keiner da! Komm morgen wieder. :-)

Vielen Dank für Deine Hilfe!
Auf der Testseite, die ich ausdrucken ließ, befindet sich nur Unsinniges. Vielleicht kann man diesen Drucker nicht unter Kubuntu 12.04 betreiben. Man kann keinen Treiber für Officejet 5740e oder 5740 auswählen, sondern es wird der für Officejet 5600 empfohlen.

Hast du die hplip in der richtigen version für genau dein gerät heruntergeladen? Hast du, wie Horsemanchip vorgeschlagen hat, das script nocheinmal gestartet?

nicht noch einmal gestartet habe, sondern die übliche Prozedur durchführte. Ich hatte
