auflösung von 1280x1024 einzustellen scheitert

Hallo,

bin leider nicht allzu linuxerfahren, habe aber trotzdem zunächst versucht durch beiträge im forum und wiki, meine aktuelle bildschirmauflösung von 1024x768 auf 1280x1024 zu erhöhen.

bisher habe ich folgendes erfolglos ausprobiert:

(1)neukonfiguration des x-servers mit dem befehl sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg (mit dem ergebnis, dass der x-server nicht mehr starten konnte)
(2)einfügen einer modeline nach: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/XServer_Modelines (mit dem ergebnis, dass nach erneuter anmeldung und einstellen der auflösung unter bildschirm und grafik auf 1280x1024 @75 Hz der Bildschirm grau wurde.

in beiden fällen habe ich dem pc die horizontale frequenz 32-80 kHz und die vertikale 56-75 kHz angegeben.

ich benutze eine ati radeon xpress 1200 grafikkarte.
der monitor ist ein acer al 1916 cs.

was kann ich jetzt noch machen, damit es klappt?

soll ich es vllt nach der von http://xtiming.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/xtiming.pl berechneten modeline (Modeline "1248x936@75" 135.00 1248 1280 1792 1824 936 953 965 983) versuchen? diese modeline wurde aus den angaben horizontale frequenz 32-80 kHz und vertikale 56 - 5 kHz und dem Pixeltakt von max. 135 MHz.
hab bisher nach ähnlichen problemen im forum gesucht, aber nichts gefunden, lasse mich aber solang es hilft gerne eines besseren belehren.

Danke schon mal im vorraus.

achja und der monitor unterstützt wirklich eine auflösung von 1280x1024 und bei windoof hats schon geklappt.

hast du schon mal den XServer neu konfiguriert? Dannach geht das meistens.

Zuerst einmal brauchst Du die Modeline nicht, weil 1280x1024 eine Standardeinstellung ist.
Modeline benutzt man in der Regel zum erzwingen von nicht standardmässigen Einstellungen.

Aber probier mal folgendes:

Kommentiere mal wie oben zusehen, diese 3 Zeilen in Deiner xorg.conf aus. Horizsync und Vertrefresh sind dabei auch nicht dringend erforderlich.
Falls es dann immer noch nicht funktioniert, wäre es mal ratsam, sich die /var/log/xorg.0.log anzusehen.

hi,

also den x-server hatte ich schon neu-konfiguriert (siehe schritt 1), mit dem ergebnis, dass er sich nicht mehr neu starten ließ. habe ihn deshalb durch das vorher erzeugte backup ersetzt.


habe jetzt aus der xorg.conf wie ralle vorgeschlagen hat diese drei zeilen entfernt. danach klappt es nicht die auflösung auf 1280x1024 umzustellen, weder mit der frequenz 60, 70 oder 75.

mir war gerade eben langweilig und habe mir gedacht, dass ich mal wieder versuche einfach die bildschirmauflösung auf 1280x1024 einzustellen. mit einfach meine ich, direkt die gewünschte bildschirmauflösung anwenden und nicht vorher zu testen. siehe da, es hat geklappt (vor meinem letzten beitrag hatte ich nur versucht die neue auflösung zu testen und nicht anzuwenden)

Bildschirmauflösung

Hallo,
habe gerade zum 1. Mal eine Linux-Distribution installiert (Ubuntu 7.04).

Ich möchte auch eine Bildschirmauflöung von 1280X1024 einstellen. Die Einstellungsvorgabe bei Ubuntu geht aber nur bis 1024X768.
Unter Windows ließen sich auch höhere Auflösungen einstellen.
Was muss ich unter Ubuntu tun, um die gewünschte Auflösung von 1280x1024 zu bekommen?

Da ich Linux-Neuling bin, kann ich mit dem ganzen Fachchinesisch wie xserver modeline usw. noch nichts anfangen. Muss ich das alles erst wissen, oder gibts auch für blutige Laien ne Möglchkeit die gewünschte Bildschirmauflösung auf 1280x1024 umzustellen?

RE: Bildschirmauflösung

hmmm, ist jetzt schon ein bißchen länger her, dass ich bei mir die höhere auflösung herbeigezaubert habe, aber im endeffekt hat mich folgendes zum weg geführt (über ein bißchen modeline kommst du jetzt nicht umhin, der weg ist aber trotzdem einfach):

xorg.conf ist die Konfigurationsdatei für u.a. den Monitor. um eine höhere auflösung zu erzielen, musst du die xorg.conf ändern.
zur sicherheit wird aber vorher ein backup erzeugt, mit dem befehl im terminal: sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.bak
und sudo-passwort eingeben.

dann diesen befehl eingeben: sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

es sollte sich nun ein textfenster öffenen. bei der section: "screen" wirst du modelines finden. hier ein ausschnitt meiner xorg.conf:

SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection

bei dir wird wohl "1280*1024" fehlen. füge es vor "1024*768" ein, wiederhole das einfügen bei allen subsections von screen und speicher deine änderungen. melde dich ab und logge dich erneut ein. du solltest jetzt bei system, einstellungen, bildschirmauflösung die neue auflösung einstellen können. wenn der test nicht funktioniert, wende sie trotzdem an (der test hat bei mir noch nie funktioniert, aber das anwenden 8)).

falls der pc es jetzt nicht schafft in der gewünschten auflösung darzustellen und eine fehlermeldung bringt; drücke alt strg f3. hier gebe den befehl: sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.bak /etc/X11/xorg.conf ein, um die ursprüngliche xorg.conf datei wiederherzustellen.

herzlichen Dank für die schnelle Antwort.
Ich hatte an anderen Stellen im Forum weitergelesen und dort fand ich den Hinweis, dass Ubuntu 7.10 standardmäßig mehr Möglichkeiten für die Bildschirmauflösung hat unter anderem auch die von Dir und mir gewünschte. Ich habe also das neuere System Ubuntu 7.10 installiert und schon beim Installationsvorgang erscheint die höhere Auflösung.
Mein Problem ist damit wohl beseitigt. Ich werde das System nun ausprobieren und hoffe, dass es keine weiteren Probleme gibt.
